Family:  Ambassidae (Asiatic glassfishes)
Max. size:  8.2 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; depth range - 2 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Thailand to Indonesia and the Philippines (Ref. 12693), New Guinea (Ref. 2847) and the Ryukyu Islands (Ref. 559).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 8-9. Cheek scales in 2 rows. Lateral line strongly curved midway and runs long with a silvery mid-lateral band. Lower margin of interoperculum with a single spine.
Biology:  Adults occur in brackish mangrove estuaries and lower reaches of freshwater streams (Ref. 2847, 37816). Probably feed on small insects, crustaceans and other invertebrates. Not seen in markets (Ref. 12693).
