Family:  Tetraodontidae (Puffers), subfamily: Canthigasterinae
Max. size:  8.52 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 90 - 100 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: off the southeast coast of the USA and the Gulf of Mexico.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal soft rays: 9-9. Absence of dark dorsal and ventral margins on the caudal fin and the presence of a small irregular dark spot on the dorsal fin base; presence of bars on the caudal fin; presence of diagonally oriented lines on the snout, and presence of two darker longitudinal stripes on the sides of its body (Ref. 43205).
Biology:  Occurs in deep reefs, most probably over hard bottom (Ref. 43205). Maximum depth from Ref. 58018.
