Red Sea nymph cardinalfish

Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
Max. size:  3.32 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 10 - 30 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea endemic (Saudi Arabia and Egypt).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  This species was observed at night, usually in the vicinity of a cave. A single individual at Dahab was observed solitary, although a large group of specimens was collected from the cave in Obhur, Jeddah suggesting that the species living in small groups in crevices (Ref. 125402).
