Diagnosis: |
Dorsal spines (total): 8-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-12; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 11-11. Distinguished by having eight (occasionally seven) pectoral filaments, not reaching midpoint of anal fin; depth of posterior margin of maxilla less than eye diameter; snout pointed; body in life usually blue above and silvery below (Ref. 39607); 11 anal-fin soft rays; 46-50 gill rakers; depth of posterior margin of maxilla less than eye diameter (Ref. 95025). |
