Family:  Pseudochromidae (Dottybacks), subfamily: Pseudochrominae
Max. size:  11 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 12 - 30 m
Distribution:  Indian Ocean: Sri Lanka and southern India to the Gulf of Oman and Strait of Hormuz.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 28-29; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 17-19. Description: Characterized by overall brown color; upper part of gill cover with blue spot; each scale of upper half of body with blue spots, forming longitudinal rows; blue spots extending to dorsal fin; presence of broad black submarginal stripe near upper and lower edge of caudal fin; anterior lateral line scales 36-44; predorsal scales 18-25; depth of body 24.7-28.1 % of SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Found on rocky substrata. Sometimes found in tidepools (Ref 90102).
