Yunnanilus nigromaculatus (Regan, 1904)

Max. size:  7.7 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: known only from Dianchi Lake, Yunnan, China.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-12; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Distinguished from all other species of the genus by its terminal mouth with an upwardly directed gape; absence of lateral line and head pores; scaled predorsal area; 8 1/2 branched dorsal rays; 14 branched caudal rays (Ref. 12040).
Biology:  Adults inhabit shallow waters of lake (less than 1 m deep) among vegetation, but not in inlets or outlets of the lake. Feed on shrimps (Ref. 12040).
