adipose fin
(English) A small fleshy fin without rays found on the back behind the dorsal fin of some primitive teleost fishes such as the lizardfishes (Synodontidae), salmonids (Salmonidae), or characids (Characidae). (See also: fin rays, teleosts, fins)
