Definition of Term

group-synchronous development
(English) At least two cohorts of oocytes can be distinguished in the maturing ovary; a fairly synchronous population of larger oocytes (defined as a "clutch") and a more heterogeneous population of smaller oocytes from which the clutch is recruited. The former are the oocytes to be spawned during the current breeding season, while the latter are the oocytes to be spawned in future breeding seasons.
