Definition of Term

electrophoresis
(English) A laboratory procedure for the separation and observation of proteins (usually enzymes) that can be used as genetic markers; a means of detecting genetic differences among populations of a species by sampling proteins from members of the populations and analyzing the movement of these protein particles in a medium through which an electrical charge is passed. (See also: isozyme, enzyme, allele)
électrophorèse
(French) Une procédure du laboratoire pour la séparation et observation des protéines (habituellement enzymes) qui peut être utilisé comme marqueurs génétiques; un moyens de détecter des différences génétiques parmi des populations d'une espèce en faisant des échantillons des protéines de membres des populations et en analysant les mouvements de ces particules protéiques dans un moyen à travers d'où une charge électrique est passsée.
