Believed to be confined to the Lake Mweru system, with samples from elsewhere named as this species belonging to some other taxon (Ref. 2951); at present also reported from the Bangweulu-Chambeshi area, and from Kasanka National Park (but no voucher specimens available)(Ref. 95585).
