This species can be distinguished from its congeners by having a V-shaped spinelet, yellowish teeth, lacking unpaired platelets at typical adipose fin portion, hyaline caudal-fin with three transverse dark bars, single abdominal median plate series, and by morphometric and meristic characters (Ref. 128923).
Found in small shallow streams with clear and swfit-flowing water, ca. 0.5-2 m depth with marginal vegetation (Ref. 128923).
