Short description Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal spines (total): 10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 7. This species is distinguished by the following characters: body moderately elongate, its depth 3.2-3.6 in SL; head length (HL) about equal to its body depth, 1.0-1.1 in HL; eye diameter a little less than snout length, 1.2 in snout; the lower margin of eye well above a line from tip of snout to upper pectoral fin base; suborbital is moderately deep, the lower edge emarginate, least depth 1.0-1.5 in eye diameter; imaginary line extended upward from posterior edge of suborbital reaching dorsal profile about 2 scale rows before origin of dorsal fin; pectoral fins are moderately long, reaching to about level of the vent; pelvic fins are very long, reaching to between level of vent and origin of the anal fin; upper lobe of caudal fin rounded and slightly longer than lower, but not produced; scale rows below lateral line more or less horizontal; maxillary reaching to between level of posterior nostril and anterior margin of the eye. Colouration: body pinkish-mauve; snout with two narrow yellow bands, the uppermost from anterior margin of eye through nostrils, the lower band from just in front of lower margin of eye to anterior edge of suborbital; upper lip is narrowly edged with yellow while the lower lip and chin beneath lip are yellow, this colour extending as narrow band posteriorly to lower margin of opercle (Ref. 93175).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = No PD50 data   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01349 (0.00626 - 0.02905), b=2.96 (2.79 - 3.13), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this Genus-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.8   ±0.5 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (15 of 100).
