Vertebrae: 141 - 146. This elongated eel species is distinguished from al its congeners by the following set of characters: anus on the anterior to the midpoint of the total length, pre-anal length 40.0-43.1% of TL; dorsal-fin origin before the pectoral-fin base; short wedge-shaped pointed vomerine teeth patch, three or four rows in the anterior portion, tapering posteriorly with four uniserial teeth; intermaxillary teeth with four transverse rows, barely visible when jaws closed and a fine gap separates vomerine and maxillary teeth; lateral line pores end at a smaller distance (3.8-4.6 in HL) before the tail tip; SO canal with 4 or 5 pores; pre-dorsal vertebrae 9-10; preanal vertebrae 49-53; total vertebrae 141-146. Colouration: body greenish-brown in colour; two faint dark bands at dorsal portion of the head, extremities of the lower jaw with minute dark pigmentation patches before the rictus, bicoloured pectoral fin.
