Inhabits sandy areas to about 69 m depth but usually from 3-18 m. The young occur in very shallow water on reef flats and in sandy bays over mixed sand and rock bottoms (Ref. 5592). Probably feeds on benthic invertebrates (Ref. 9344). Only caught incidentally with trawls (Ref. 9344).
