Etymology: Oreoglanis: Greek, oreos = mountain+Greek, glanis = Latin, aurum = gold + Greek, glanis = a fish that can eat the bait without touching the hook; a cat fish (Ref. 45335); infulata: From infula, Latin for band, in reference to the dark band on the anal fin (Ref. 49549).

Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 6 - 7; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 6; Vertebrae: 40 - 41. Dark band running across the anal fin, a lunate and uniformly dark caudal fin, a lower lip lacking a medial notch and with a fimbriated posterior margin, maxillary barbel with a rounded tip, length of caudal peduncle 19.0-22.6% SL, depth of caudal peduncle 2.6-3.2% SL, post-adipose distance 6.8-8.0% SL, eye diameter 10.5-12.1% HL, 12 principal caudal-fin rays (Ref. 49549).
Collected in a steeply sloping rainforest stream 1-3 m wide; only in waterfalls where the fish were found adhering to vertical surfaces of rocks (Ref. 49549).
