Schilbeidae (Schilbid catfishes)
Etymology: durinii: Named for Mr. Durini, collector of the type specimen of this species (Ref. 43912).
Eponymy: Countess Maria Teresa Camozzi Durini di Monza née Camozzi (1892–1943) was the wife of Count Hercules Luchino Durini di Monza (1876–1968) and she collected the type at Lake Tanganyika. [...] (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
Environment: milieu / climate zone / depth range / distribution range
Ecology
Freshwater; demersal. Tropical
Africa: distribution unknown. Type locality is "Lake Tanganyika", but there is serious doubt about the type locality of this species as Poll (1946) mentioned the absence of schilbeids from the Lake itself; possibly the type specimen of this species was collected in the Luala River (Kasai River basin) and was wrongly labelled afterwards (Ref. 43912). Ref. 3570 reports that the type may originate from "Lago Tana" (=Lake Tana in Ethiopia) instead of "Lago Tanganika".
