Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Found only in areas with moderate water current. Occurs mostly in a riffle at a narrow stretch of rio Pratinha, the type locality of this species. Stays at midwater, swimming against the current, probably feeding on food items drifting downstream. One individual was observed picking with its mouth on a large boulder in a cave entrance (Ref. 76978).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.7500   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00912 (0.00401 - 0.02074), b=3.07 (2.87 - 3.27), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  2.6   ±0.5 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
