Vertebrae: 35. Rasbora armitagei differs from all congeners from India and Sri Lanka, except R. wilpita by having a prominent symphysial knob on the lower jaw and conspicuous maxillary lateral processes. It can be differentiated from R. wilpita by having the head depth 48-53 (vs. 54-62) % HL and body depth 23.2-24.4 (24.7-29.3) % SL (Ref. 84057).
Restricted to shaded streams in the inland rain forests in southwest Sri Lanka (Ref. 123756).
