Pentanchidae (Deepwater catsharks)
Etymology: Bythaelurus: bythos (Gr.), depths of the sea, referring to its deepwater habitat; ailouros (Gr.), cat, probably an allusion to the vernacular “catshark,” so named for its cat-like eyes (See ETYFish); stewarti: In honor of the late Rob Stewart (1979-2017), Canadian filmmaker and shark conservationist, who “inspired the second author and stimulated her interest in sharks” (he died from hypoxia while diving off Islamorada, Florida, USA) (See ETYFish).
Eponymy: Rob Stewart (1979–2017) was a Canadian filmmaker, freelance journalist, underwater photographer and conservationist. [...] (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
