Short description
Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics
Dorsal soft rays (total): 9 - 10; Anal soft rays: 17. The males of this species are distinguished from its congeners by having an elliptical caudal fin with brown oblique stripes, and a broad yellow stripe on the ventral portion that lacks a black marginal stripe; further differs with flank light blue with oblique red dots, with dots on pectoral fin, no black humeral blotch and distal black stripe on anal fin (Ref. 130458).
All specimens were collected from a single small, shallow (about 5-8 cm deep) temporary pool, with leaf and mud substratum, and it is adjacent to and subject to seasonal inundation by a small stream. The water was dark brown with temperature approximately 24°C and with a pH of 6.8. Other fishes present were Apistogramma rubrolineata and Hoplosternum thoracatum (Ref. 130458).
