Etymology: Iskandaria: Name from the Arabian nickname of Alexander the Macedonian (Iskandar), conqueror of Middle Asia.
Eponymy: Iskandar is the Arabic form of Alexander and here relates to Alexander the Great (BC 356– BC 323). Colonel Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Kushakevich (surname also given as Kuschakewitsch) was a botanist, entomologist, traveler and explorer through Middle Asia (1887–1878), who collected the holotypes.
