Short description
Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics
Dorsal spines (total): 1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 5. Diagnosis: labial disk moderately developed and rounded, with thick papillae covering almost its entire surface; mandibular barbels short; auxiliary barbels absent; premaxillary teeth large, arranged in 4-5 rows; only known specimen has 7+6 mandibular teeth, but typical number for this species is probably 7+7; adipose fin short, beginning slightly ahead of anal-fin origin; caudal fin weakly forked, lower lobe longer than upper; eyes not very well developed; dorsal surface of head with longitudinal epidermic ridges forming vermiculations (Ref. 57223).
Coloration: body covered with numerous small dark spots, more or less uniformly distributed on dorsal surface (colour hardly visible on preserved holotype)(Ref. 57223).
