Etymology: Poropuntius: Greek, poros = porous + Greek, punctum = marked with points (Ref. 45335).

Issue
This species is questionably a synonym of Poropuntius laoensis (Günther, 1868) in Eschmeyer (CofF ver. May 2011: Ref. 86870) following Kottelat (2001: Ref. 43281). Please send references, or more studies are needed.
