Etymology: zhui: Named for Prof. Zhu, Yuan-Ding (CHU Yuan-Ting), former president of the the Shanghai Ocean University and director of the East China Sea Fisheries Research Institute.

Épines dorsales (Total) : 4; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total) : 9 - 10; Épines anales: 0; Rayons mous anaux: 6 - 7. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: a wider snout (11.7-13.1% of SL; 29.2-34.6% of HL); dorsal spines 4, the 1st and 2nd close to the tip of snout, 3rd and 4th completely contained within loose fold of skin which connects these 2 spines to the soft dorsal fin; with blunt, sturdy cranial spines; uniform brown coloration, lacking vermiculations or contrasting pigment (Ref. 89623).
